SÃO PAULO/AMSTERDAM, 16 February 2023 – SkyTeam, the global airline alliance and airport lounge experts, Global Lounge Network (GLN), are partnering to open their first joint lounge at São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport.
The new São Paulo lounge offers a well-appointed 700 square meter space with seating for 180 guests. Located in Terminal 2 and open 24/7, the new lounge is available to SkyTeam Elite Plus, First and Business Class customers flying on services operated by Aeromexico and Air Europa.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the lounge was constructed using renewable low-emission materials and features smart technology to manage lighting, solar protection with water saving devices installed in restrooms and showers. Keeping single-use plastic to a minimum, the lounge is also engaged in the airport’s waste management and recycling program.
Guests will enjoy exciting flavors of Brazil including an a la carte menu, bursting with locally sourced ingredients, available via an enhanced QR-code ordering system and delicious barista-style coffees brewed using freshly-ground Brazilian beans. A buffet of international hot and cold options is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner accompanied by a selection of sparkling, red and white wines, spirits, beers and soft drinks.
“We are delighted to unveil our first joint airport lounge - in partnership with Global Lounge Network - that enhances the airport experience for customers flying from São Paulo and widens the potential for other lounges in key markets worldwide,” said Patrick Roux, SkyTeam CEO and Managing Director. “GLN shares SkyTeam’s values of customer service excellence and commitment to greater sustainability, as we look to make air travel greener in the sky and on the ground.”
Jeffrey Stern, CEO Global Lounge Network, said: “Global Lounge Network is excited to expand our relationship with SkyTeam in this new joint lounge product which we believe will open the door for many new lounge destinations for SkyTeam members around the world, maintaining the quality of service expected by our customers.”
SkyTeam and GLN’s partnership began in 2017 with the opening of a SkyTeam Lounge in Vancouver. This was followed by a SkyTeam Lounge in Istanbul and last year’s opening of a new SkyTeam Lounge in Santiago de Chile. SkyTeam’s Vancouver Lounge was recently highly commended for its eco credentials in the YVR Green Awards 2022. SkyTeam and its members offer a network of more than 750 lounges around the world.
