SkyTeam signed a Global Airline Alliance Adherence Agreement (GAAAA) with China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in the People’s Republic of China, indicating that the Chinese carrier is on track for official alliance membership later next year.

At an official ceremony in Moscow, SkyTeam representatives welcomed Aeroflot as the alliance's tenth member. SkyTeam is the first global airline alliance to include a Russian carrier. With the addition of Aeroflot, SkyTeam serves approximately 373 million passengers with 13,133 daily departures to 856 global destinations in 169 countries.
