
Valery Okulov is Chairman and CEO of Aeroflot, Russia's national carrier and largest airline. He was appointed to this position in 1997.
As Chairman and CEO, Mr. Okulov has helped reposition Aeroflot to become a major international airline with recognition from prestigious global industry bodies. In 2006, under his guidance, Aeroflot joined SkyTeam, the second-largest airline alliance in the world.
Mr. Okulov began his career with Aeroflot at the Central Department of International Flights in 1985 before becoming a navigation instructor at the Aeroflot Training Centre.
Prior to Aeroflot, Mr. Okulov worked at the United Air Group of the Ural Civil Aviation Department in Sverdlovsk (now Ekaterinburg).
Mr. Okulov is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Governors, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the General Council of Business Russia, the Business Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and serves as Co-Chairman of the Russian-Emirates' Business Council.
Mr. Okulov holds a degree in engineering and aeronautical navigation from Saint Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation (former Civil Aviation Academy).
