
Dr. Andres Conesa obtained his B. A. in Economics from the
Instituto Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) in Mexico City and his PhD in
Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He
obtained the Fulbright and Ford MacArthur scholarships, and in 1997
he was awarded with the Banamex National Prize in Economic
Research.
Andres Conesa has held several positions in the Mexican Public
Administration, among which are the following: Advisor to the
Secretary of Finance and Public Credit (1990-1991), Advisor to the
Secretary of the Economic Cabinet of the Presidency (1991-1993),
Chief Advisor to the Undersecretary of Finance and Public Credit
(1997-1998), and Director General for International Financial Affairs in
the Ministry of Finance (1998-2000). He served as Director General of
Economic Policy at the Ministry of Finance (2000-2003) and as Deputy
Undersecretary for Public Credit from August 2003 to December 2004,
when he was appointed as Chairman of the Board of CINTRA. Dr.
Conesa was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors and
CEO of Aeromexico on December 2005.
After the sale of Consorcio Aeromexico in October 2007, the new
Board of Directors ratified Andres Conesa as CEO of the airline.
